The Film Documentary, Roots of Rumba presents an authentic portrayal of the musical diversity one can find in la Habana, focusing on the Rumba tradition and the rhythms most often found in the Rumba setting. Interviews with, Amado Dedeu Hernandez, director of the folkloric ensemble Clave y Guaguanco, Alejandro Suarez, director of the traditional son group Sierra Maestra, and Jose Antonio "Maceo" Rodriguez, lead singer for Sierra Maestra, among others, lay the structure for an endemic account of the evolution of Rumba and Son to their present form.
